Practice Profile

Sarah specialises in family law, child law and criminal law.

Prior to calling to the bar, Sarah gained 6 years of experience in all aspects of family and criminal court work. As a solicitor, she has conducted many cases in the Sheriff Court involving permanence and adoption, referral proceedings and children’s hearing appeals. She also has particular experience in financial provision, divorce, cohabitation, residence and contact. She acted as instructing solicitor for an interested party in judicial review proceedings which were ultimately appealed to the Supreme Court.

Sarah has instructed counsel in numerous high court trials and has been involved in the preparation of complex and long-running criminal proceedings.

Sarah is also a regular writer for Greens Family Law Bulletin.

  • ABC v Principal Reporter [2020] UKSC 26

    Instructing solicitor assisting senior and junior counsel acting for an interested party in judicial review proceedings appealed to the supreme court concerning the extent of the rights of siblings to participate in children’s hearing proceedings.

  • City of Edinburgh Council v EAH, DEH & WD (2018) SC EDIN 29

    Principal solicitor representing an interested party in permanence proceedings relating to a young child. The permanence order was refused on the basis of submissions made on behalf of the interested party.

  • CRIME

  • HMA v Yousef Badri (unreported)

    Trainee assisting senior and junior counsel in a highly technical and lengthy high court trial in which the accused was acquitted of charges under the Terrorism Act 2000.

  • Stasic v Advocate General for Scotland [2018] HCJAC 61

    Instructing solicitor assisting junior counsel acting in bill of suspension proceedings to suspend a warrant sought by HMRC in which the warrant was successfully suspended.
