Paul has a broad civil and commercial practice. He has experience of dealing with a wide range of commercial contract and property disputes. Acting for both landlords and tenants, Paul has handled disputes involving dilapidations, rent reviews, assignation of leases and keep-open clauses. Litigations he has conducted have concerned agency, building, coal mining, partnership and employment contracts. Paul has acted in a number of professional negligence claims arising out of property and trust matters.

Banking, financial services, diligence and insolvency law are also within Paul's sphere of expertise. His experience of dealing with a large number of disputes for and against banks in relation to securities and guarantees is complemented by spells acting for and advising trustees and liquidators. Paul maintains a significant interest in sports law, having advised and acted for the Scottish Premier League and a number of major football clubs, sportsmen and sports agents.

Paul regularly appears in the Inner and Outer House, including the Commercial Court. He also has experience of arbitration and the Lands Tribunal, among other tribunals.
