Practice Profile

John has accumulated wide-ranging expertise during his career at the Bar, and he is regularly instructed in cases in each of his identified areas of interest. It is his proficiency in family law for which he is probably best known, however – particularly as it relates to, and affects, children.

John has appeared before various bodies exercising decision making functions. He also has experience in the conduct of fatal accident inquiries. John returned to private practice having served as an Advocate Depute and ad hoc Advocate Depute from May 2003 to May 2007. In May 2010, he was appointed a part-time Sheriff by the Scottish Ministers.
