Jamie called to the Bar in 2025 as a Lord Hope Scholar.
Prior to devilling Jamie trained as a solicitor with a leading international litigation firm, where he gained experience of a wide range of professional negligence and personal injury matters and regularly conducted proofs and other hearings in the sheriff courts.
During devilling Jamie further developed his knowledge of commercial, property and public law, including constitutional issues. He was involved in several large-scale and high-profile Court of Session cases, among them novel group proceedings. Jamie has a particular interest in professional regulation and liability, as well as a parallel focus on criminal appeals and extradition.
Jamie currently tutors on a number of courses at Edinburgh Law School. In his own time as a student there he received numerous awards, including the Margaret Malloch Scholarship as top student on the accelerated LL.B, the Pinsent Masons mooting trophy and the Law Society of Scotland Prize for best performance in civil court practice.

Prior to law Jamie spent a number of years working in financial media. He also (unrelated) holds a qualification in civilian bomb disposal.
