Practice Profile

David Turner called to the Bar in 2012 and was appointed as King’s Counsel in 2025. In 2022, David was appointed as full time junior counsel to the Scottish COVID-19 Inquiry, becoming Deputy to Co-Lead Counsel for the Inquiry in 2024.

Away from the Inquiry, David has a busy and varied civil practice appearing in the Scottish courts in all areas of commercial and personal disputes. A qualified arbitrator and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), he also represents clients at arbitration and mediation.

In addition to expertise in contractual and property litigation, David advises in a number of specialist areas including: corporate governance, insolvency, insurance, judicial review, partnership, planning, product liability, professional negligence, succession, tax and trusts, financial services, energy, infrastructure, construction and aviation.

David was ranked as a leading junior counsel in Chambers UK Bar Guide 2025 for Real Estate Litigation (Band 1); Commercial Dispute Resolution; Company (Band 1); and Private Client, being described as “an excellent counsel - insightful and responsive.” In the 2025 edition of Legal 500 he was ranked as a leading junior for Commercial Disputes.

Prior to calling to the Bar, David practised for several years as a solicitor in the top-ranked Commercial Litigation team at McGrigors.
