ARNOT MANDERSON WELCOMES THREE NEWLY CALLED ADVOCATES
29th May 2020
Arnot Manderson Advocates has welcomed Kenny Cloggie, Andrew Crosbie and Charles Oliver to the stable following their admission to the Faculty of Advocates in a historic but socially distant calling ceremony held in Parliament Hall (pictured above) earlier today.
Kenneth Cloggie calls to the Bar having previously qualified as a solicitor-advocate. He holds qualifications in Forensic Medicine and Advanced Advocacy (National Institute for Trial Advocacy). He was appointed to the first team of Public Defenders in the UK. He has conducted over 250 trials, including jury trials, many of which were complex and highly sensitive. He has represented solicitors’ interests at the Scottish Parliament, Law Society and Scottish Courts Service. Besides his obvious criminal practice Kenny brings a well-developed interest in Personal Injury work and Fatal Accident Inquiries.
Before calling to the Bar Andrew spent six and a half years as a solicitor. He has divided his time between criminal defence, extraditions and children’s referrals in Edinburgh, and three years of professional regulatory practice with the Scottish Social Services Council in Dundee. He has a particular interest in extradition law, having worked for one of Scotland’s most prolific firms in the field. Andrew also has an interest in family law having represented both adult and child clients before Children’s Hearings and in Sheriff Court proofs. He is an ad-hoc Reporter for the Law Society of Scotland.
Charles calls to the bar as a Lord Hope Scholar. He was previously a solicitor with a broad practice acting for both commercial and individual clients. His commercial clients have included both regional and national companies in the healthcare, finance, retail, and distribution sectors. He has considerable experience of litigation before the Court of Session, Sheriff Courts, Tribunals, and Licensing Bodies.
Andrew Sutherland, Practice Manager at Arnot Manderson Advocates, said “We are delighted to welcome Kenny, Andrew and Charles to the Stable today, and we look forward to Jonathan Murphy and Fergus Whyte joining them upon their anticipated calling at the end of June. With these new Counsel in our ranks we continue to boast an enviably strong presence at the junior end of the Bar.
Our new members each have invaluable experience in Scotland’s highest courts and beyond and the complete range of work they undertake makes them a perfect fit for our stable.
A wide range of Solicitors and their clients stand to benefit from their availability and all these additions further enhance our reputation as the largest full service stable at the Scottish Bar.”
