Drinks Reception & Talk 22nd November 2018

A TALK ON SCOTTISH PROTECTED STATUS FOOD & DRINK AFTER BREXIT

Arnot Manderson Advocates extends to you a warm invitation to join us for a short talk on Scottish Protected Status (for which CPD will be awarded), and thereafter a Scottish food and drinks reception at the National Museum of Scotland, Chambers Street, Edinburgh on Thursday 22nd November 2018 at 6:00pm (registration from 5.30pm). We wish to express our thanks for the support you have given us in previous years.

Scotland is home to fourteen products with protected status in the European Union. They range from Arbroath Smokies to Orkney Island Cheddar, Salmon (farmed and wild) and, of course, Scotch Whisky. We are delighted to welcome two expert guest speakers who will give a brief talk on these remarkable products, their current protection in EU law, and the implications of Brexit upon them.

Our guest speakers are Alan Park, Director of the Legal Affairs Team at the Scotch Whisky Association and Amélie Favreau, maîtresse de conférences at the University of Grenoble Alpes, visiting professor at the University of Edinburgh and world expert on products with protected status.

We propose that you should arrive at the venue for 6:00pm in order that we may start at 6:30pm The talks will last about 40 minutes in the Museum’s auditorium before we adjourn for drinks and canapés in the Discoveries Gallery until about 9:30pm.
