Kenneth Campbell QC speaks at LSA event.

Kenneth Campbell QC will be speaking at the Innovative Challenges to Public Authorities Seminar taking place on Monday 8th February at the Legal Services Agency Ltd in Glasgow.  The event runs from 9.30am to 1pm.

Kenneth’s talk is entitled “The Evolving Law About Standing in Scots Judicial Review”.

Public Authorities in Scotland are subject to rigorous controls and checks by the courts to guard against negligence, discrimination and illegal use of their powers. The main vehicle for remedy, Judicial Review, has undergone major changes in Scotland over the last year, From the rise of public interest litigation following cases such as AXA and Walton, to the raft of changes brought in by The Courts Reform (Scotland) Act 2014. However, the classic arguments of judicial review are not the only recourse pursuers can now rely on, with the advent of the Equality Act 2010, the Human Rights Act 1998 and the Scotland Act 1998.  The seminar will cover the changes to standing in judicial review law in Scotland, as well as the Public Service Equality Duty (‘PSED’) enshrined in part 11 of the Equality Act 2010.
