Arnot Manderson Advocates, in Association with the Scottish Young Lawyers Association, are pleased to invite you to our 3rd Annual Advocacy Skills Training Workshop, to take place at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Edinburgh on Monday 11th November 2013.

Advocacy in court remains central to the work of litigation lawyers, both civil and criminal. For newly qualified practitioners advocacy can be daunting and yet actual court experience can sometimes be hard to come by. This all day workshop seeks to help address that with sessions on case analysis, examination in chief, cross examination and submissions.

This workshop is aimed at solicitors who are recently qualified (0-4 years), but others are welcome. It is led by Pino Di Emidio Advocate, a former Director of Training & Education at the Faculty of Advocates, and he will be assisted by a number of members of Arnot Manderson Advocates who are experienced instructors on the Faculty’s skills training programme.

This is a hands-on skills event, with a series of small group practical sessions, during which participants will each perform advocacy tasks and will receive structured feedback from instructors aimed at helping improve their performance. In order to achieve the maximum benefit for participants, numbers will be limited to 48. Some materials will be issued in advance, as preparation will be necessary in order to get the most from the workshop.

Attendance at this event counts for 5 hours CPD. The cost of the conference per delegate, including lunch and a brief wine reception will be £175 plus VAT. A discounted price of £125 plus VAT is available to the first 25 SYLA members to book a place. Previous Workshops have been oversubscribed and early booking is recommended.
