AMA Annual Conference on Professional Negligence

Arnot Manderson Advocates invites you to its fourth Annual Conference where this year the subject will be Professional Negligence.

The Conference will be held on Monday 24th September 2012 at the Mackenzie Building, Old Assembly Close, off High Street, Edinburgh

Speakers at the Conference are all drawn from Arnot Manderson’s highly experienced team of Professional and Clinical Negligence practitioners including Andrew Young QC, Gerry Hanretty QC, Marion Caldwell QC, Joanna Cherry QC, Shona Haldane QC, Neil Mackenzie and Patricia Comiskey.  The event will be chaired by Kenneth Campbell QC.

The morning session of this Conference will give guidance to solicitors and counsel in the areas of Defective Products in Clinical Negligence Claims and Conflict of Interest in Professional Negligence Claims. We will also asses whether parties involved in Catastrophic Injury cases should opt for Lump Sum Settlements as opposed to Periodic Payments, in a manner designed to give practical guidance to agents and counsel involved in these types of cases. The session will also discuss recent developments in claims made against Solicitors arising out of Solicitors’ unwitting involvement in conveyancing scams.

The afternoon session will provide analysis of recent significant Clinical Negligence cases North and South of the border and will feature a talk on Causation. It will also consider the issue of Consent in Clinical Negligence Claims. All participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and raise issues with the panel after both the morning and the afternoon sessions.

Attendance at the conference counts for four and a half hours CPD. The cost of the conference per delegate, including lunch, is £100 plus VAT. A group booking discount is available. Any firms booking three places will be entitled to a fourth place free of charge. Previous events organised by Arnot Manderson Advocates have been oversubscribed and early booking is recommended.

We are delighted to announce that places at this conference, and all future Arnot Manderson events, can now be reserved online via our new Arnot Manderson Events service.
