Drinks Reception & CPD Talk 9th Nov ’17

Arnot Manderson Advocates extends to you a warm invitation to join us for a short talk on Data Protection Regulation, and thereafter a drinks reception at the Royal College of Physicians, Queen Street, Edinburgh on Thursday 9th November 2017 at 6.00 p.m. We wish to express our thanks for the support you have given to us in previous years.

Data in a variety of forms is central to the work of all legal practitioners, and concerns about data security are increasingly to the forefront of practice management. With the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation a few months away, practitioners in all areas will wish to consider some of the issues that may arise and how they may affect our practice in the law (particularly in a post-Brexit environment), whilst at the same earning some CPD prior to a drink and some canapés. We are delighted to welcome as our guest speaker Dr Paolo Cavaliere, Lecturer in Digital Media and IT Law from the University of Edinburgh, where he is also a member of SCRIPT, a law and technology research centre based in the School of Law.

Musical entertainment will be provided by the pupils of St Mary’s Music School. They will be promoting the “Perfect Harmony” campaign which aims to bring two of Scotland’s national treasures, the School and the Old Royal High School of Edinburgh’s Calton Hill, together, in Perfect Harmony.

We propose that you should arrive at the venue at 6.00 p.m. in order that we may start at 6.30pm. The talk will last about 40 minutes in the Grand Hall before we adjourn for drinks in the New Library until about 9.30 p.m.
