“Invaluable Contribution” from Alan Inglis

Alan Inglis’ “invaluable contribution” to cross border adoption cases

In A & Ors (Children : Scottish adoptions) [2017] EWHC 35 (Fam) Alan Inglis was instructed by three Scottish local authorities in cases concerning the effect of Scottish Permanence Orders with Authority to Adopt where the children are placed in England and subject to adoption applications there.  The President of the Family Division of the High Court, the Rt Hon Sir James Munby, referred in his judgment, to  “the invaluable input of Mr Inglis” on Scots law when accepting his submission that the orders prevented the birth parents opposing the adoption.  Only where they had an “exercisable right to contact” would they be served with notice of the proceedings and they would be confined to protecting that right.
