Arnot Manderson Annual Conference 2017

Arnot Manderson Advocates are delighted to invite you to their eighth Annual Conference where this year five highly experienced Stable Members will cover trends, developments, reforms and new issues in this area. Confirmed Speakers include stable members Jonathan Brodie QC, Shona Haldane QC, Andrew Young QC, Neil Mackenzie and Simon Crabb as well as Alan Rogerson, Senior Claims Manager at Aviva.

10:00am – 10:40am Jonathan Brodie QC – “Protecting Personality Rights- a new direction for PI claims?”

10:40am – 11:20am Andrew Young QC – “Housing cost claims in an era of negative discount rates”. Following the introduction of a negative discount rate Andrew will discuss other approaches for assessing this head of claim in catastrophic injury cases.

11:20am – 11:50am Coffee

11:50am – 12:30pm Alan Rogerson, Senior Claims Manager, Aviva – Alan will discuss proportionality and will give an update on what we see developing in neighbouring jurisdictions and what lessons (if any) we can learn from their mistakes?.

12:30pm – 12:45pm Q&A on the morning session

12:45pm – 1:45pm Lunch

1:45pm – 2:25pm Neil Mackenzie, Advocate – “The red pill or the blue pill: witness reliability in the digital age”.

2:25pm – 3:05pm Simon Crabb, Advocate – “Commission and diligence and the right to privacy: none of our business?”.

3:05pm – 3:45pm Shona Haldane QC - “Size matters – is big always best?”. Shona looks at recent developments in Product Liability in a medico legal context and the pros and cons of group litigation.

3:45pm – 4:00pm Q&A on the afternoon session and Summing Up

CPD: Attendance counts for 4 hours of CPD.

Cost: The cost per delegate including lunch is just £60, i.e. £50 plus VAT.
