Scottish Gov. Standing Junior Appointments

FOUR ARNOT MANDERSON MEMBERS APPOINTED/RE-APPOINTED AS STANDING JUNIORS TO THE SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT

Arnot Manderson Advocates are delighted to announce the appointment of Ruth Charteris as Second Standing Junior to the Scottish Government an appointment which will run for the next four years.  Ruth was originally appointed as a Standing Junior in 2012.  In addition Duncan Hamilton has been reappointed as a Standing Junior for a further two years having first been appointed to the panel in January 2013.

Ruth and Duncan are joined on the list by Wojciech Jajdelski and Laura Thomson who both called to the Bar in 2014.  Their appointments will initially run to the end of 2019.

These appointments mean that counsel may be instructed on any matter falling within the Scottish Government’s range of responsibilities and with the exception of the Second Standing Junior, does not affect their ability to accept instructions from any other source including instructions to act against the Scottish Government.

Commenting on the news Arnot Manderson Practice Manager Andrew Sutherland said “The appointments and re-appointment of these highly regarded Juniors is richly deserved.  The Stable is rightfully proud to have so many of its Juniors acting for the Scottish Government’s Legal Directorate.  Taken alongside the five stable members currently serving as Standing Juniors to the Office of the Advocate General these important appointments reflect the strength of Scotland’s largest full-service Stable, across a number of disciplines but particularly in the field of Public Law.”
