Simon Crabb and Paul Harvey join AM Advocates

Arnot Manderson Advocates has welcomed Simon Crabb and Paul Harvey to the stable following their admission to the Faculty of Advocates today.

Before calling at the Bar, Simon worked for over four years in Colombia with threatened human rights lawyers providing legal advice and training on international justice, with Peace Brigades International and latterly as Legal Advisor and Head of Mission for Lawyers without Borders Canada.  During that time, he gained significant experience in the field of human rights law. Prior to his time in Colombia he served as a Procurator Fiscal Depute for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service where he honed his skills in the criminal courts and as a court lawyer generally.

Paul calls to the Scottish Bar having been a member of the Bar of England and Wales since 2013. He remains an associate (door) tenant at Doughty Street Chambers, London.  Paul also spent more than a decade in Strasbourg working as a Lawyer in the Registry of the European Court of Human Rights in a variety of roles, including drafting decisions and judgments against the UK and other Contracting States.

Simon and Paul share a strong expertise in public law with Paul having worked for a time with the Scottish Government Legal Directorate. Paul also brings a specialist expertise in commercial cases, and he and Simon are both highly regarded for their expertise in criminal law, extradition work, immigration matters and international law. Simon also has a keen interest in personal injury and professional negligence matters.

Andrew Sutherland, Practice Manager at Arnot Manderson Advocates, said “We are delighted to welcome Simon and Paul to the Stable today.  Their interest in the fields of public Law, immigration and criminal law will naturally strengthen our expertise in these areas.

Both Counsel bring a strong commitment to human rights and international Law, which means that, with their additional interests in a variety of practice areas, they are the perfect fit for our stable.

These two additions further enhance our reputation as the largest full-service stable at the Scottish Bar and I’m confident that a wide range of solicitors and their clients stand to benefit from their availability.  We wish both of them a long and successful career at the Scottish Bar.”
