Arnot Manderson Advocates are delighted to announce the re-appointment of five of its members, Hugh Olson, Arabella Tait, Gordon Balfour, BJ Gill and Catherine Smith, as Standing Junior Counsel to the Office of the Advocate General in Scotland.  Standing Juniors are instructed to act for the UK Government in Scotland in a wide variety of work.

The appointments to the UK Government’s Legal Team in Scotland are Hugh Olson, a Standing Junior since 2006, who has been appointed as a Standing Junior Counsel to the Ministry of Defence.  Also confirmed in the MoD team of Standing Juniors are Arabella Tait and Gordon Balfour who have been attached to that department since their initial appointments in 2012.  BJ Gill remains as Standing Junior to the Home Office a position he has held for the last three years.  Catherine Smith who was also initially appointed in 2012 has been re-appointed to the General Pool and will be available to work for all UK Government departments, as will the other appointees.

Commenting on the news Arnot Manderson Practice Manager Andrew Sutherland said “The re-appointment of these five highly regarded Juniors is richly deserved.  The Stable is rightfully proud to have so many of its Juniors representing the Advocate General in Scotland.  These important appointments reflect the strength and depth of Scotland’s largest full-service Stable, across a number of different practice areas and disciplines.”
