AM Advocate Pino Di Emidio has been appointed as a sheriff of Tayside, Central and Fife.

Mr Di Emidio was admitted as a solicitor in 1981 and became an advocate in 1994.  He trained at Alexander Stone & Co and then practised in the firms of G Carroll and Co, Golds and MacMillans where he was a partner from 1990-1993.

He had a broad civil practice as an advocate with particular concentration on commercial and property law.  In 2003 he was appointed as an ad hoc advocate depute.  From 2005 to 2009 he was director of training and education at the Faculty of Advocates.   From 2009 to 2012, he was a full time advocate depute prosecuting crime in the High Court.  Since 2012 he has been a part time legal chair of HOHP/PRHP, dealing with disputes in the property factoring and private rented sectors.

The member of Arnot Manderson Advocates was appointed last month by the Queen, on the recommendation of the First Minister.  First Minister Alex Salmond nominated Mr Di Emidio for appointment on the basis of a report by the independent Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland.

Practice Manager Elizabeth Manderson commented “This is a wonderful and well deserved appointment for Pino.  Although we will miss him around Parliament House he moves on with the best wishes of everyone at AM Advocates.”
