AM Family Law Group Glasgow Seminar

The AM Family Law Group are delighted to present a free CPD Seminar in Glasgow on Thursday 26th June at the Procurators Library. The Event will be chaired by Marie H Clark and will qualify for 1.5 hours CPD and will feature talks from AMFLG members Laura Thomson, Ceit-Anna MacLeod and Frank Burr on a number of topical Family Law issues.

One of the areas to be covered is a case digest of “A v A and another (Children: Habitual Residence) [2014] AC 1”. In A v A the UKSC considered whether a child born in Pakistan, who had never left that country, could be habitually resident in England. Delegates will be given an overview of the Supreme Court’s decision and reasoning, and we will consider the scope of habitual residence in Hague Convention cases.

We will also cover “Family law and heritable property” and will be discussing some property law aspects of family law, including (a) the Sheriff Principal’s decision in Collins v Sweeney regarding defending an action of division and sale, (b) the concept of undue influence between couples in property transactions, and (c) the worrying occurrence of forgery in family property dealings. Further details will follow.

This event is free but places are limited so early booking is recommended, simply click on the Register Now button below.
